Seanchaí Dún Collection
The safe place where the story is told
The world's most beautiful shelter for a story. Seanchaí Dún is built around fig and leather, the scent of the Long Room at Trinity College Dublin, where the leather-bound books of five centuries sit on five-hundred-year-old shelves, and the fig trees of the courtyard carry their summer scent through the high windows. A composition for the considered hour, the room with the books, the moment the world is closed out and the story has its proper home.
Dún: In Irish, Dún means a fort or stronghold; a place of shelter and safe keeping. As a verb it means to close, as in closing out the world.
Not the smell of the fire itself, but the feeling of it. The first moment the flame catches and the storyteller begins. Pink pepper and pear give way to rose and magnolia, before settling into cedarwood and patchouli with a hint of coffee. The warm depth of a Connemara hearth at first light. It's autumn indoors: long evenings, low light, and a candle lit against the dark. The opening chapter of the Seanchaí Collection.
