Seanchaí Ember

Every ember carries a story:

Seanchaí (pronounced shannakey) is the Irish word for storyteller. Let's reignite Ireland's rich history of storytelling by gathering around and sharing our own stories. The Seanchaí in Ireland preserved myths, folktales, fairy tales, and local history, told around the warmth of the open fire. This candle reflects that welcoming flame to gather around and share in.

The face behind the creation

I have felt for some time that the scented candle is taking the place of the open fire. Growing up the open fire was the focal point of our home whether gathered with family or friends. I was always intrigued by the role of the Seanchaí in olden times in Ireland especially as I regularly visited Kinsale, the birth home of my mother where there was still a large open fire (where I could picture the pots and kettles hanging when my mother was a child) and a pub by the name of Seanchaí in the town.

With this in mind, we blended a fragrance that reminded me of gathering around the fire - faint notes of roasted coffee, grounding notes of earth and trees and floral notes of rose and magnolia that transport me back to that Kinsale farmhouse. A fragranced candle to gather around and share our daily stories big, small, happy or sad. Let’s change this world that now moves too fast, where we find it more and more difficult to find time to simply share a coffee at home and make a conscious effort to light a candle and continue that for which we are famous – storytelling.
